Participants in our annual visa diversity lottery must have a high school education or its equivalent, or at least two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform. What is Diversity Visa Lottery
The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, also known as the Green Card lottery, provides a maximum of 55,000 immigrant visas each fiscal year to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. Applicants may be selected in an annual random drawing, or lottery, conducted by USCIS. You must meet certain eligibility requirements and there is no guarantee that you will be selected to receive a visa.
It is a program created and controlled by the US State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs, and it is established for the purpose of offering not less than 50,000 green cards to countries with a very low immigration level to the United States.
This program is introduced in 1990 in order to enhance the diversity of the US population. The US government wants to have different races in the country, so it comes up with the idea of giving people from other countries and continents a massive chance of becoming permanent residents in the United States via the program.
